It is now November and perhaps the one of the most historic elections ever has taken place. Barak Obama is now our President. He is the first African American president of the United States. It was an exciting election and whether or not you voted for Barak, it is now time to get behind him and hold him accountable for the promises made to public education. NCLB needs to be revamped and funding for public education needs to be improved. While we all feel the pressure of the economic downturn, we still need to remain focused on our mission to educate all of our youth.
We also need to focus on where we go from here as CDEA. We need to carry the energy of the Presidential election to the local level. We will need to be involved in backing candidates for the school board that are teacher friendly. Consider getting involved as an ACE to contact your local legislators. It is at the local level where we can make a huge difference.
We will be doing Toys for Tots again this year. Posters will be coming to the school buildings ASAP. I got them after our last rep meeting, so I did not have them to distribute for that meeting. Reps are asked to please let the Knol's know if your school will be participating in this drive, or not. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
